ABOUT

ABOUT

Hi, I’m Parm Dlay an Ayurveda lifestyle & nutritionist coach, professional chef, reiki healer based in Guildford Surrey, UK.

I specialise in supporting my clients to develop a lifestyle that is aligned with their values.
WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIVES WHEN WE FEEL THAT OUR LIVES NEED A SMALL OR MAJOR CHANGE.
HOW IT WORKS
We have all been there at some point in our lives when we feel that our lives need a small or major change.
This could be after a life-changing experience or when nearing a milestone birthday. My current clients are dealing with unexpected changes through life trauma, illness or just burnout from the demands of their work.
Over the past few years via the reiki work I have been carrying out with my clients, I have watched my client’s glow with better clarity of mind, and health issues reduced and happier from a lifestyle revamp – this is a direct reflection of their inner world and the work we have achieved together.

ABOUT AYURVEDA

ABOUT AYURVEDA

I was introduced to Ayurveda as a child so it has been instilled in me.

I remember my mum’s homemade remedies my sisters and I were forced to drink when we were ill. Without fail within a few hours these remedies would work their magic and we would be back to our normal mischievous selves.

My family & I originate from north India, the Punjab and as Indians, the principles of Ayurveda are bedded in our roots which has benefitted our well-being and longevity.

Whilst travelling around the world, working as a chef I've taken the principles of Ayurveda cooking and encompassed these into my everyday meal plans. My daily routine has also changed over the past few years. With Ayurveda your day starts with a morning routine and finishes with an evening routine, and this is called Dinacharya. Dinacharya in Ayurveda refers to the daily activities we should perform to stay healthy.

Following the Dinacharya from the time you wake to the time you sleep helps to harmonise the mind and the body. It helps to eliminate toxins in the body and supports the immune system to work to its full potential whilst you get on with your day.

A BRIEF HISTORY...

A BRIEF HISTORY...

When I moved out from my family home, I began travelling around the world working as a trained chef. I found myself becoming more and more interested in how good nutritional food helped to improve my health and mood.

I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in my mid-twenties, therefore struggling with my hormones. Later in life I had fertility issues and continued to research how to balance my hormones.

For the past 25 years I have been incorporating the practices of Ayurveda into my life and have completed a diploma in Ayurveda lifestyle and nutrition.

Over the past few years, I have shared my knowledge and personal experiences with family, friends and clients. I have been lucky enough to become more experienced and knowledgeable on the subject, and look forward to working with you soon.

MY APPROACH

MY APPROACH

My approach is a series of natural remedies consisting of food, herbs and spices to bring your health back on track. We will discuss your mental health as well as your physical health, we will work together to reduce stress and flexibility in the mind and body.
As a trained chef, I will evaluate your Ayurvedic dosha combination and will share recipes that align with you, the recipes are designed specifically to be simple and easy for you to prepare at home. As part of your package, I will also offer simple cooking and lifestyle tips.
We will also map out seasonal changes you need to make to your diet. So that you are prepared for each season of the year, with digested seasonal food you’ll be living by the natural rhythms of nature.

Using Ayurveda we will look at the seasonal changes and how this affects your mind and body, we will then look at changing your diet to reflect changes your body requires.
Together will build a lifestyle and nutritional plan that cleanses, restores and balances your body and mind.

WHAT IS AYURVEDA & HOW DOES IT WORK?

WHAT IS AYURVEDA & HOW DOES IT WORK?

Many people feel uprooted, and disconnected from themselves due to how fast our lives are moving and the ever speeding growth of technology.

Going back to an ancient vedic tradition like Ayurveda which offers a wealth of practical knowledge on how to live a healthy and meaningful life.
Ayurveda translates to the ‘Science’ or ‘knowledge of life’ and is said to be over 5000 years old.

History says that India’s greatest stages while mediating in the Himalayas were given the knowledge of health longevity. They observed the rhythms of the universe and the flows of energy.
Ayurveda is a mind-body medicine, it goes hand in hand with yoga and the two together support our wellbeing and therefore balancing the mind, body and our soul.

The aim and objective of Ayurveda are to maintain the health of a healthy person and to heal the disease of an unhealthy person. Ayurveda health is a perfect state of balance among the body’s three fundamental energies (called doshas – Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and therefore balancing body, mind, and the soul.

WHAT ARE THE THREE DOSHAS?

WHAT ARE THE THREE DOSHAS?

Vata, Pitta, and Kapha govern all aspects of our body and mind, the three doshas are physical manifestations, demonstrating how our physical bodies are connected to the vibrations of cosmic intelligence.
The three doshas

VATA
Vata relates to movement, change and irregularity. It controls all movement in the body and mind – circulation of the blood, movement of thoughts in the mind, and movement of food via the digestive tract.
The three doshas

PITTA
Pitta relates to metabolism, digestion and enzymatic processes. It controls vision, hunger, digestion and transformation of food. The regulation of the heat in the body.
The three doshas

KAPHA
Kapha relates to structure and fluid balance within the body. It provides stability to both the physical structure and the psychological nature.

HOW DOSHAS AFFECT US

HOW DOSHAS AFFECT US

We are all born with all three doshas but in differing ratios.

Some people are born with high amounts of pitta, less vata and kapha. There are various combinations that you are born with but throughout your lifetime these combinations will come out of alignment due to many reasons.

As the doshas fall out of balance this could lead to imbalance which could result in health implications and disease. To balance the doshas, we need to look at your diet, exercise, and daily routines. Along with uplifting lifestyle changes that support the mind and good practices like yoga, breathwork and meditation.
